Preschool Teacher – Pre-K (4–5 Year Old Classroom)

Meadowlark Preschool | Hollister, CA

Meadowlark Preschool is seeking a dedicated, experienced Preschool Teacher to join our team and lead our 4–5 year old classroom. We are looking for a passionate educator who values hands-on learning, strong classroom management, and collaborative teaching. Our classrooms focus on play-based learning, hands-on exploration, and developmentally appropriate curriculum that supports children's social, emotional, and academic growth.

Position Overview

The Preschool Teacher will work alongside a co-teacher to maintain a safe, engaging classroom environment while supporting a 12:1 student-teacher ratio. This role includes planning and implementing monthly curriculum, creating seasonal learning experiences, and fostering a classroom culture that promotes curiosity, kindness, and independence.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain supervision and care of children in accordance with California Community Care Licensing regulations
  • Work collaboratively with a co-teacher to manage classroom routines and transitions
  • Maintain classroom ratio and provide active supervision at all times
  • Plan and implement monthly curriculum aligned with classroom needs, developmental milestones, and seasonal themes
  • Create hands-on learning activities that support early literacy, math, fine motor skills, and social-emotional development
  • Support children's independence through structured classroom jobs and learning centers
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized classroom environment
  • Foster positive relationships with families and communicate effectively regarding children's progress
  • Model and teach appropriate classroom behavior, kindness, and problem solving
  • Follow all health and safety protocols including sanitation, supervision, and emergency procedures
  • Complete required documentation and maintain compliance with licensing regulations

Minimum Qualifications

  • Minimum 12 ECE units required by the State of California including core courses
  • At least 2 years classroom experience in a licensed preschool or childcare setting
  • Strong classroom management skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a co-teacher
  • Knowledge of developmentally appropriate practices for preschool-aged children
  • Ability to plan engaging, hands-on curriculum

Licensing Requirements (California)

Candidates must be able to provide:

  • 12 ECE Units (minimum)
  • Current TB clearance
  • Required immunizations (MMR, Tdap, Flu or declination)
  • Mandated Reporter Training Certificate
  • Background clearance through Community Care Licensing (Live Scan)
  • Current Pediatric CPR/First Aid (or willingness to obtain)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Additional ECE units beyond the minimum
  • Experience leading a preschool classroom
  • Experience planning project-based or play-based curriculum
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
